How glorious a greeting the sun gives the mountains  – Johan Moir

All these are commonly spoken greetings or salutations when people meet and are forms of farewell when they depart. Greetings include:

  1.  Namaste (Hindi and Sanskrit)
  2. Namaskar (Hindi)
  3. Juhar/Namaskar (Odia)
  4. Namaskar (Marathi)
  5. Namaskara (Kannada)
  6. Namaskaram (Telugu, Malayalam)
  7. Vanakkam (Tamil)
  8. Nomoshkaar (Bengali)
  9. Nomoskar (Assamese)

Namaskar is considered slightly more formal than Namaste but both express deep respect. Namaskar is commonly used in India and Nepal by Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists, and many continue to use this outside the Indian subcontinent.
